The famous McKenzie River here in Oregon offers excellent fly fishing for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout. Fly fish from a comfortable drift boat with your experienced guide while enjoying western Oregons gorgeous, wooded scenery. Historic lodges, waterfalls, golfing, and the enjoyment of this natural beauty all await you.
We run two different custom Trout fly fishing trips above Leaburg Dam on the McKenzie River Oregon. We specialize in fly fishing from a comfortable McKenzie drift boat, but occasionally use lures.
From Forest Glen Boat Launch at Blue River Oregon (down stream) we fly fish for native and hatchery Rainbow Trout. We usually carry and can fly fish two people per boat, but can carry a third person for an additional fee. On this trip, if you wish, when we pull over for lunch we'll build a fire and cook the fresh hatchery Trout in a long handled fry pan (when the fire season permits).
On the more whitewater pocket fly fishing section of the McKenzie River Oregon above Blue River Oregon we fly fish catch & release for native Rainbow Trout. The upper section is more suited to experienced fisherpersons. You need to be able to cast flies into small pockets as the boat is floating by. We usually carry two but can only fly fish one person at a time on this part of the river and we don't do a fish fry on this section. We can usually boat and fly fish the upper section down to Blue River Oregon all season.
There is a five mile fly and lure section in the upper level that is boatable. This stretch is only runable until July with two people and early August with one person depending on the water level above Blue River Oregon.
On all McKenzie fly fishing trips we provide the boat, guide, safety equipment, rods and tackle, a cooler for your lunch and beverages, with lawn chairs to sit in at lunch. You provide your raingear in spring, Oregon fishing license and tags, lunch and beverages.
Shuttle of the guide's vehicle is usually included in the price and your guide will give you a ride back to your vehicle.
