The Deschutes River in Oregon offers world class fishing for native Rainbow Trout and Steelhead. We provide everything, except your waders and sleeping bag. We work with licensed outfitters with intimate knowledge of the Deschutes to bring you to some of the west's finest fishing.
Your 1, 3-5 day fly fishing trip follows the Deschutes River in Oregon as it flows north toward the Columbia River through central Oregon's desert canyon. All fly fishing on the Deschutes River is from shore or wading, with a lot of catch & release. The Deschutes River offers world class fly fishing with challenging dry fly and nymph fishing for Rainbow Trout and wet fly fishing for native and hachery steelhead.
Deschutes River native redsides often range from 14" to 20" with even larger fish being caught during our trips. Our guides' unique abilities allow the most novice angler the opportunity to experience world class trout fly fishing. Early fly fishing season action for wild Rainbow Trout kicks off in late April offering a wide range of mayflies and quickly changes to one of Oregon's greatest Salmon Fly and Golden Stone hatches. As the season moves along Caddis becomes the object of the Deschutes River redsides.
In most years Steelhead arrive by mid-August with good fly fishing through December here in Oregon. With both hard fighting native and abundant numbers of hatchery produced fish, knowledgeable and novice anglers alike can experience some of Oregon's best steelhead fly fishing with plenty of good water and numerous runs. The river is ideally suited to dryline, wet fly fishing. The Deschutes River produces Steelhead that range between 6 to 15 pounds and it is not uncommon to see a 20-pounder.
